U.S. Army Hires Proxy Personnel to Provide Injury Prevention and Human Performance Optimization

Posted on

U.S. Army awards Proxy Personnel a $5 million contract.

The U.S. Army awarded Proxy Personnel an approximately $5 million contract to provide injury prevention and human performance optimization services to the following four Army bases:

  • Fort Lee, VA
  • Fort Sill, OK
  • Fort Benning, GA
  • Fort Leonard Wood, MO

To fulfill this requirement, Proxy Personnel will staff athletic trainers and certified strength and conditioning specialists at each of the aforementioned bases. Medical Proxy, a division of Proxy Personnel, will oversee the recruiting, staffing, and management of this contract.

Recruits in Basic Combat Training (BCT) have the highest incidence of musculoskeletal injuries of any subgroup in the U.S. Army. This not only affects Soldier preparation, but also results in medical attrition which reduces military manpower. Therefore, the U.S. Army has decided to evaluate the value of a program that is designed to reduce injury rates, reduce medical attrition, maximize new recruit’s physical readiness and raise the quality of trainees merging into the general populous of the Army’s culture. Reducing injury rates and injury-related attrition is a multi-factorial task that includes, but is not limited to, command emphasis, training, and enforcement of evidence-based injury prevention (IP) techniques. Well-trained, combat ready Soldiers are most advantageously produced by creating a program that optimizes physical performance, prevents injury, and facilitates early identification and management of injuries when they do occur.
