Department of Justice Hires Proxy Personnel to Assist with FOIA Requests
DOJ awards Proxy Personnel a $500K contract.
The Department of Justice awards Proxy Personnel an approximately $500K contract to provide staffing support to the Office of the General Counsel (OGC). Legal Proxy, a division of Proxy Personnel, will manage the recruiting, staffing, and management of this contract.
There has been a heightened interest in the timely processing of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests by Members of Congress and by the President. In December 2005, the President issued an Executive Order requiring agencies to improve their processes for the disclosure of information under the FOIA. Each federal agency is required to review its FOIA operations and to develop a FOIA plan. The guidance for the development of the plans requires agencies to concentrate on responding to the needs of the requesters in a more timely and customer-friendly manner. The Office of Justice Programs (OJP) has already implemented several procedures to improve the timeliness element.
In order to ensure continued compliance with the requirements imposed by FOIA amends, the OGC hired Proxy Personnel to provide staff to assist with processing FOIA and PA requests under the direction of the FOIA officer and attorney staff in OGC, OJP, and to assist in supporting administrative functions.
