Department of Labor Hires Proxy Personnel to Assist with FOIA Claims

Posted on

DOL hires Proxy Personnel to provide legal staff.

The Department of Labor awarded Proxy Personnel a contract to provide the Mine Safety and Health Administration with temporary staffing solutions. The main responsibility of our contract workers will be to assist with Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request processing. Legal Proxy, a division of Proxy Personnel, will oversee the recruiting, staffing, and management of this contract.

On April 5, 2010 there was an explosion in the Upper Big Branch Mine in Montcoal, West Virginia. Because of this accident, there has been a dramatic increase in the number of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request that have been received by the Mine Safety and Health Administration. There presently is a backlog of FOIA requests that are past due. In order to process this backlog and process additional FOIA requests in the time allowed by law, MSHA needs to retain competent FOIA contract help on a short term basis.
